The mission of the Department of Customs & Excise is:
- to protect the society and the environment, and facilitate the improvement of its quality of life, by preventing illicit traffic in narcotics and other prohibited and restricted goods;
- to collect the revenues for which it is responsible;
- to facilitate legitimate trade and business; and
- to collect and analyse trade statistical data within its competence.
In fulfilling this mission, the Department of Customs and Excise respects the rule of law, and the rights and freedoms of individuals; it applies national legislation correctly and consistently and observes international agreements and conventions. It facilitate the rapid movement of legitimate traffic and trade; and it is impartial, honest and absolutely transparent in its relations with the public. |
