Latest Figures: Price Index of Construction Materials, Dec 2017

The Price Index of Construction Materials for December 2017 reached 101,78 units (base year 2010=100,00), recording a decrease of 0,22% compared to the previous month.

For the period January - December 2017, the index recorded an increase of 0,56% compared to the same period of 2016.

The increase of the index in 2017 over the previous year is mainly due to the increase in the prices of the following materials:

· Bitumen asphalt: 24,10%
· Building iron: 10,47%
· Structural grid: 4,05%
· Outlets, switches, fuses and insulators: 3,61%
· Roofs and metallic parts for the assembly of gypsumboards and cementboards: 2,62%
· Structural steel: 2,46%
· Paints and solvents: 2,44%
· Aluminium doors and windows: 1,18%


On the other hand, some materials recorded a decline in their prices compared to 2016. The most significant are:

· Burners and boilers: -17,20%
· Plasters, mortars, tile adhesives and grout: -11,95%
· Bricks: -8,15%
· Air conditioners: -3,03%
· Plastic pipes and tubes: -2,92%
· Portland cements: -1,40%
· Ready-mix concrete: -1,07%
