Survey Results: Industrial Production Survey, 2015

The Statistical Service announces the main results of the annual Industrial Production Survey.

According to the survey results, employment in the broad industrial sector increased in 2015 by 1,3% to 32,1 thousand compared to 31,6 thousand in 2014. In manufacturing employment reached 27,9 thousand, in mining and quarrying 0,4 thousand, in electricity supply 2,1 thousand and in water supply, sewerage and waste management 1,6 thousand persons.

In the whole of the industrial sector value of production at current market prices recorded a decrease of 2,6% to €3.599,4 million in 2015 compared to €3.694,5 million in 2014. In manufacturing value of production increased by 2,0% to €2.569,0 million and in mining and quarrying by 16,5% to €98,4 million. On the other hand, value of production decreased in electricity supply by 18,6% to €659,9million and in water supply, sewerage and waste management by 3,2% to €272,1million.

Value added at current market prices rose by 7,0% in the total of industry and reached €1.374,4 million in 2015 compared to €1.283,9 million in 2014. In manufacturing value added increased by 7,5% to €909,5 million, in mining and quarrying by 16,8% to €28,9 million and in electricity supply by 8,9% to €297,2 million.On the contrary, in water supply, sewerage and waste management value added decreased marginally by 0,9% to €138,8million.
