Latest Figures: Revenue from Tourism, Sep 2017

On the basis of the results of the Passenger Survey, revenue from tourism reached €371,0 mn in September 2017 compared to €337,1 mn in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording an increase of 10,1%.

For the period of January – September 2017 revenue from tourism is estimated at €2.216,7 mn compared to €1.962,7 mn in the corresponding period of 2016, recording an increase of 12,9%.

The expenditure per person for September 2017 reached €766,89 compared to €800,22 in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording a decrease of 4,2%. The expenditure per person/per day for September 2017 compared to September 2016 also recorded a decrease of 4,2%.

In September 2017 a decrease of 8,9% was recorded for the expenditure per person for tourists from the United Kingdom (from €912,27 in September 2016 to €831,36 in September 2017), 1,0% decrease from Russia (from €794,88 to €786,78 this year) and 6,0% increase from Israel (from €651,65 to €690,56 this year).

The expenditure per person/per day for tourists from the United Kingdom recorded a decrease of 9,7% (from €83,69 in September 2016 to €75,58 in September 2017), the expenditure per person/per day for tourists from Russia decreased by 7,2% (from €88,32 to €81,96) and for tourists from Israel also decreased by 12,6% (from €138,65 to €121,15).

The expenditure per person for the period of January – September 2017 reached €738,49 compared to €749,93 in the corresponding period of the previous year, recording a decrease of 1,5%. The expenditure per person/per day for the period of January – September 2017 compared to the period of January – September 2016 also recorded a decrease of 1,5% (from €78,94 to €77,74).
