Map of the Republic of Cyprus-locations of Customs offices
Note: After the Turkish invasion in July 1974, the Council of Ministers with an order declared the ports of Ammochostos (Famagusta), Karavostasi and Kyrenia as closed for all ships. Furthermore, according to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, countries which are not members of the United Nations cannot become members of the International Civil Aviation Organisation and therefore, the airports built in the area of Cyprus now occupied by Turkish troops are not recognised.
Therefore, any person entering into or leaving the Republic of Cyprus or importing, exporting or transhipping goods from any port or airport which functions in the area of Cyprus which is occupied by Turkish troops commits an offence and the goods, ships and aircraft are liable to forfeiture. |
