Latest Figures: Quarterly Accounts of General Government, 1st Quarter 2011

On the basis of the preliminary data on the General Government accounts for the period January-March 2011, compiled in accordance to E.U concepts and definitions, the total revenue amounted to €1598,6 mn (6,6% decrease compared to the corresponding period of 2010), while total expenditure reached €1909,3 mn,(5,2% increase) resulting to a deficit of €310,7 mn as compared to €104,8 mn deficit in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The main categories of revenue for the period January-March 2011 were: taxes on production and imports €588,3 mn (4,5% decrease), of which VAT was €358,3 mn (4,3% decrease), taxes on income and wealth €426,8 mn (7,2% decrease).Revenue from sales of goods and services increased by 3,7% as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year reaching €105,9 mn.

The main categories of expenditure for the period January-March 2011 were: compensation of employees €628,6 mn (2,5% increase), social transfers €623,8 mn (6,7% increase) and intermediate consumption €185,7, mn (6,4% increase).
Current transfers reached €166,3 mn (7,5% decrease). Negative growth rate was observed in the category of the capital formation (7,4% decrease) reaching €105 mn.
