The Consumer Price Index for September 2003 increased by 2,06 units or 1,80% to 116,50 units compared to 114,44 in August 2003. This is mainly due to increases in the prices of clothing, footwear and furnishing items following the end of summer sales as well as to increases in the prices of certain fresh fruit, vegetables, potatoes and tuition fees of private educational institutions and part-time educational coaching centres.

2. The rate of increase of the Index for September 2003 compared to September 2002 was 3,64% while for the period January-September 2003 the CPI recorded an increase of 4,35% compared to the corresponding period of 2002.

3. The evolution of the Index by month during 2003 as well as the percentage changes compared with corresponding month and period of last year are shown in Key Figures.
