Latest Figures: Quarterly Accounts of General Government, 2nd Quarter 2011

On the basis of the preliminary data on the General Government accounts for the period April-June 2011, compiled in accordance to E.U concepts and definitions, the total revenue amounted to €1655,6 mn (4,2% increase compared to the corresponding period of 2010), while total expenditure reached €1971,4 mn,(3% increase) resulting to a deficit of €315,8 mn as compared to €326,0 mn deficit in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The main categories of revenue for the period April-June 2011 were: taxes on production and imports €669,6 mn (3,1% increase), of which VAT was €372,9 mn (2,1% increase) and taxes on income and wealth €376,6 mn (24,3% increase). Revenue from sales of goods and services increased by 4,4% as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year reaching 99,7 mn..

The main categories of expenditure for the period April-June 2011 were: compensation of employees €636,8 mn (2,5% increase) and social transfers €666,7 mn (1,6% increase). Current transfers reached €191,8 mn (0,7% decrease) and intermediate consumption €199,5 mn (2,1%decrease). Positive growth rate was observed in the category of the capital formation (33,4% increase) reaching 150,2 mn.
