Latest Figures: Consumer Price Index, Dec 2010

The Consumer Price Index for December 2010, decreased by 0,18 units or 0,16% to 114,45 units compared to 114,63 in November 2010. This is mainly due to decreases in the prices of certain fresh vegetables, potatoes, chicken, clothing items and air fares. Increases have been recorded in the prices of petroleum products, electricity, gas and cigarettes.

The rate of increase of the Index and therefore the rate of inflation for December 2010 increased to 1,6% compared to 1,5% in November 2010 and 2,0% in December 2009.

For the whole year of 2010, the CPI recorded an increase of 2,4% compared to the inflation rate of 0,3% in 2009.
