Survey Results: Environmental Protection Expenditures in Industrial Enterprises, 2015

On the basis of the results of a survey carried out by the Statistical Service, the total expenditure for environmental protection activities in industry in 2015 is estimated at €23,7 million, which corresponds to 0,13% of the Gross Domestic Product, compared to €28,4 million or 0,16% in 2014.

By sector of economic activity, the manufacturing industries reported expenditures of €19,6 million, the mining and quarrying industries and the electricity supply enterprises €4,0 million and the water treatment and supply enterprises €0,1 million. In the manufacturing sector, where the largest amount of expenditure is reported, manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products accounted for €6,6 million, manufacturing of food products for €5,8 million, manufacturing of beverages for €2,0 million and manufacturing of pharmaceutical products and preparations for €1,0 million.

By environmental domain, expenditure related to the reduction of air emissions €8,3 million, the monitoring, treatment and disposal of waste €7,7 million, the treatment of waste water €6,5 million and other actions such as the abatement of noise and vibrations, the protection of soil and ground water and the protection of natural resources and biodiversity €1,2 million.
