Latest Figures: Quarterly Accounts of General Government, 2nd Quarter 2013

On the basis of the preliminary data on the General Government accounts for the period April-June 2013, compiled in accordance to E.U concepts and definitions, the total revenue amounted to €1617,5 mn (9,2% increase compared to the corresponding period of 2012), while total expenditure reached €1843,1 mn,(2,5% decrease) resulting to a deficit of €225,6 mn as compared to €409,4 mn deficit in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The main categories of revenue for the period April-June 2013 were: taxes on production and imports €704,9 mn (13,6% increase), of which VAT was €411,6 mn (14,5% increase), taxes on income and wealth €369,8 mn (23,9% increase). Revenue from sales of goods and services increased by 5,8% as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year reaching 103,7 mn.

The main categories of expenditure for the period April-June 2013 were: compensation of employees €580,0 mn (10,6% decrease), and social transfers €756,3 mn (8,2% increase), current transfers reached €108,6 mn (3,3% decrease). Negative growth rate was observed in the category of the capital formation (43,3% decrease) reaching 58,4 mn.
