Latest Figures: Consumer Prices Index, Feb 2013

The Consumer Price Index for February 2013 increased by 0,26 units or 0,22% to 119,45 units compared to 119,19 in January 2013. This is mainly due to increases in the prices of petroleum products, insurance premium for motor cars and air fares. Decreases have been recorded in the prices of certain fresh vegetables, potatoes and certain medicines.

The rate of increase of the Index, and therefore the rate of inflation, for February 2013 fell to 1,6% compared to 1,8 in January 2013 and 3,1% in February 2012.

For the period January-February 2013, the CPI recorded an increase of 1,7% compared to the corresponding period of 2012.
