Latest Figures: Quarterly Accounts of General Government, 1st Quarter 2013

On the basis of the preliminary data on the General Government accounts for the period January-March 2013, compiled in accordance to E.U concepts and definitions, the total revenue amounted to €1.606,2 mn (7,6% decrease compared to the corresponding period of 2012), while total expenditure reached €1.562,0 mn, (17,2% decrease) resulting to a surplus of €44,2 mn as compared to €148,0 mn deficit in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The main categories of revenue for the period January-March 2013 were: taxes on production and imports €451,5 mn (25,1% decrease), of which VAT was €244,8 mn (28,5% decrease), taxes on income and wealth €411,7 mn (22,8% decrease). Revenue from sales of goods and services increased by 147,0% as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year reaching €270,5 mn.

The main categories of expenditure for the period January-March 2013 were: compensation of employees (including imputed social contributions and pensions of civil servants) €609,6 mn (6,9% decrease), social transfers €449,5 mn (23,0% decrease) and intermediate consumption €156,0 mn (21,8% decrease). Current transfers reached €82,5 mn (22,8% decrease). Negative growth rate was observed in the category of the capital formation (47,3%) reaching €52,1 mn.
