Latest Figures: Consumer Prices Index, Dec 2012

The Consumer Price Index for December 2012 decreased by 0,10 units or 0,08% to 120,26 units compared to 120,36 in November 2012. This is mainly due to decreases in the prices of electricity, petroleum products and potatoes. Increases have been recorded in the prices of certain fresh vegetables and gas.

The rate of increase of the Index, and therefore the rate of inflation, for December 2012 dropped to 1,1% compared to 1,2% in November 2012 and 3,9% in December 2011.

For the whole year of 2012, the Index recorded an increase of 2,4% compared to the inflation rate of 3,3% in 2011.
