Population Census 2011
The Statistical Service announces that the Census is conducted smoothly in all districts without any particular problems. The citizens cooperate and provide all the necessary information. About 160.000 housing units and 365.000 inhabitants have been recorded during the first three weeks.
The data collection is carried out by authorized employees who are equipped with special identity cards. The visits to households take place throughout the day. In cases where the enumerators do not find the members of the household, they leave a notice specifying the date and time for a new visit. The Census will last until the end of November and thus, there is enough time to enumerate the entire population, both Cypriots and foreigners, who have their usual residence in the government controlled areas of Cyprus.
The Statistical Service reassures that the personal data collected are treated as confidential and will be used only for statistical purposes.
