1. The Statistical Service of Cyprus announces that it has published the monthly report “Intra-Extra EU Trade Statistics (Summarised Data)” for September 2004.

2. The main developments in Cyprus foreign trade were:

(a) Total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other Member States) in January-September 2004 amounted to £1.983,6 mn as compared to £1.705,6 mn in January-September 2003. Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other Member States) in January-September 2004 were £368,7 mn compared to £369,3 mn in the corresponding period of 2003. The trade deficit increased by 20,9% to £1.614,9 mn in January-September 2004 compared to £1.336,3 mn in the corresponding period of 2003.

(b) During September 2004 the EU countries supplied Cyprus with goods valued at £148,5 mn and absorbed goods valued at £21,2 mn.

(c) Total imports from third countries were £69,6mn and total exports to third countries, including stores and provisions, £21,0 mn in September 2004. Domestic exports, including stores and provisions, were £9,2 mn in September 2004 and re-exports, including stores and provisions, £11,8 mn.
