Latest Figures: Consumer Price Index, Nov 2009

The Consumer Price Index for November 2009, increased by 1,30 units or 1,16% to 112,95 units compared to 111,65 in October 2009. This is mainly due to increases in the prices of certain fresh vegetables and fruit, potatoes, certain clothing and footwear items and petrol and diesel for motor cars. Decreases have been recorded in the prices of diesel for central heating and hotels and tourist apartments.

The rate of inflation in November 2009 returned to positive ground after the negative rates observed in the period July-October 2009. More specifically the rate of inflation for November 2009 rose to 1,4% compared to -0,8% in October 2009 and 3,4% in November 2008.

For the period January-November 2009, the CPI recorded an increase of 0,2% compared to the corresponding period of 2008.
