Latest Figures: Imports, Sales and Stocks of Petroleum Products, Mar 2020

In March 2020, the month during which COVID-19 containment measures were introduced in Cyprus, the total sales of petroleum products amounted to 105.776 tonnes, recording a decrease of 11,7% compared to March 2019. Decreases were observed in the sales of motor gasoline by 30,7% and gasoil low sulphur by 18,0%, as well as in the provisions of aviation kerosene by 45,9%. As far as the sales from filling stations are specifically concerned, these have recorded a decline of 22,6% to 43.143 tonnes.

The total stocks of petroleum products at the end of March 2020 recorded a rise of 32,0% compared to the end of the previous month.

The total sales of petroleum products in March 2020 compared to February 2020 recorded a decrease of 18,5%. A fall was recorded in the provisions of gasoil for marine use and of aviation kerosene, as well as in the sales of kerosene, gasoil, asphalt, liquefied petroleum gases, heavy fuel oil, motor gasoline and gasoil low sulphur. A rise was observed only in the provisions of light fuel oil to ships.

During the period January – March 2020, the total sales of petroleum products recorded an increase of 4,0% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
