NEW PUBLICATION: INTRA–EXTRA EU TRADE STATISTICS (SUMMARISED DATA), FEB 2006

1. The Statistical Service of Cyprus announces that it has published the monthly report “Intra-Extra E.U Trade Statistics (Summarised Data)” for February 2006.

2. The main developments in Cyprus foreign trade were:

(a) Total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other Member States) in January-February 2006 amounted to £484,4mn as compared to £410,1mn in January-February 2005. Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other Member States) in January-February 2006 were £101,0mn compared to £89,0mn in January-February 2005. The trade deficit was £383,3mn in January-February 2006 compared to £320,9mn in January-February 2005.

(b) During the second month of 2006 total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other Member States) valued at £237,1mn.

(c) Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other Member States), including stores and provisions, in February 2006 amounted to £49,0mn. Εxports/dispatches of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, were £22,7mn and exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, £26,3mn.


3. The monthly report “Intra-Extra E.U Trade Statistics (Summarised Data)” for February 2006 is available from the Printing Office of the Republic of Cyprus in Nicosia at the price of C£2=. The report is also available for download free of charge from the website of the Statistical Service.
