Latest Figures: Consumer Prices Index, Apr 2013

The Consumer Price Index for April 2013 decreased by 0,58 units or 0,48% to 119,69 units compared to 120,27 in March 2013. This is mainly due to decreases in the prices of electricity, certain fresh vegetables, petroleum products and rents. Increases have been recorded in the prices of certain clothing and footwear items.

The rate of inflation turned to negative ground for the first time since October 2009 and dropped to -0,3% compared to 1,1% in March 2013 and 3,1% in April 2012.

For the period January-April 2013, the CPI recorded an increase of 1,0% compared to the corresponding period of 2012.
