LATEST FIGURES: CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, NOV 2008

The Consumer Price Index for November 2008, decreased by 1,12 units or 1,0% to 111,43 units compared to 112,55 in October 2008. This is mainly due to decreases in the prices of petroleum products, electricity, gas and certain fresh vegetables. Increases have been recorded in the prices of certain clothing and footwear items, potatoes and newspapers.

The rate of increase of the Index and therefore the rate of inflation for November 2008 dropped to 3,4% from 5,2% in October 2008 and 3,5% in November 2007.

For the period January-November 2008, the CPI recorded an increase of 4,9% compared to the corresponding period of 2007.
