The Customs and Excise Department falls within the domain of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Cyprus. It is responsible for the effective implementation of the Customs and Excise legislation.
VAT Service coexists within Customs and Excise Department with parallel hierarchical structure until 1st of July 2014*. It is responsible for the effective implementation of VAT legislation.
As a result of the implementation of both legislations, the Department collects customs and excise duties, VAT on imports and on taxable transactions within the Republic.
The Ag. Director of the Department and VAT Commissioner is, from 1st January 2014, Mr Demetrios Hadjicostis.
Customs and V.A.T. Headquarters are situated in the building of the Ministry of Finance, in the following address: M.Karaoli and Gr. Afxentiou corner, in Nicosia.

*From the 1st of July 2014, VAT service and Revenue Department will be jointed and renamed as Tax Department, according to the new Tax Law no. 70(I) of 2014 (click here for the greek version) .
