The first annual event for the Cyprus Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), co-organized by the Directorate General Growth, Ministry of Finance and Representation of the European Commission in Cyprus, was held on the 2nd of December, 2022.

At the event, the President of the Republic addressed a greeting, noting that the Cyprus RRP was drawn up with a view to realizing a new vision for Cyprus, to face the challenges of the post-pandemic era, in an environment of competitiveness, taking into account the goals of social cohesion, environmental and digital adaptation and development. The EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Ms. Stella Kyriakides, also addressed a greeting, and referred to the successful course of implementation of the Cyprus RRP so far, announcing the disbursement of €85 million, as a result of the successful achievement of the first 14 milestones of the Plan, a first, important step which, as the Commissioner pointed out, reflects both the quality of the Cypriot RRP and the joint commitment of Cyprus and the European Commission to make the Recovery and Resilience Fund a European success story.

The Minister of Finance then presented the progress regarding the implementation of a number of measures of the RRP, pointing out the important challenges that must be faced in order for the RRP's successful implementation to continue.

The Minister's presentation was followed by a dialogue in the context of two thematic panels regarding the "Institutional Reforms" promoted in the context of the RRP, as well as the "Green Transition" with an emphasis on the energy and sustainable mobility sectors. Participants in the panels included competent Ministers, stakeholders and academics, as well as representatives of the European Commission.
