Parallel to its training activities CAPA has developed – mainly applied - research programmes in the field of public management, in view of the fact that training and research are related and interdependent activities both promoting the production and dissemination of knowledge.
Through applied research, information and knowledge is produced that provide CAPA with recommendations regarding the formulation of learning policies and the promotion of appropriate training activities and management best practices, as well as recommendations about the changes necessary for the modernization of the public service, and the improvement of its performance.
CAPA research programmes concern such areas as management development, the performance assessment of public officers, the introduction and the use of Information Technology applications in the public service. The most important research programme is the one on the “Adaptability of the Cyprus Public Service to the Structural and Organisational Requirements of the European Union” which was conducted in co-operation with the National Centre of Public Administration in Greece.
